    1. Born in Lancashire, I ve been a teacher, bookseller and in a mad moment, a smallholder on the freezing fells of the Lake District where I tried my hand at the good life , kept sheep and hens, various orphaned cats and dogs, built drystone walls, planted a small wood and even learned how to make jam I now spend the winter in Spain and summer in the UK I have now published 48 books including many bestselling family sagas and historical novels. For information, visit my website fredalightfoot.

    2. This book started off slow, however, I was sucked into it around the 100 page mark for various reasons I enjoyed this read and some of the plot twists were not expected which allowed me to begin to lose myself within the book very easily.

    3. This is not great literature, but it is a very enjoyable, easy read I read it in one day as I felt drawn into the story and I wanted to know .The only thing that bothered me with the story, is the heroine being describe at one point as having debilitating shyness , when she is not shy at all Apart from that, the characters are well developped and the story reads well Overall, it s a nice book, one I would call a pleasant beach read.

    4. Story of a young girl with dreams of a new life in America who is forced to return to England and a life of destitution Through a strange range of circumstances she ends up living the life of the aristocracy and is forced to maintain the deceit despite a growing web of lies Predictable revelation of the truth makes for a largely unsatisfying story.

    5. A Five Star story First book I ve read by this author, won t be the last A totaly engrossing read, no dead spots, an exhilarating romp through the chapters If you like to be thoroughly entertained, this volume will not disappoint
